Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Orthodontic Assistant to join our team! The ideal candidate will assist the orthodontist in delivering top-quality care to patients, ensuring a comfortable and efficient clinical experience. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for helping patients achieve confident, healthy smiles.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain treatment areas and instruments according to infection control protocols.
  • Assist the orthodontist during clinical procedures such as bonding, wire changes, impressions, and debanding.
  • Take and process digital X-rays, photographs, and impressions (traditional and digital).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient flow effectively.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies.
  • Provide chairside support and ensure patient comfort throughout procedures.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and care for orthodontic appliances
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic health records systems (such as Epic, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft)
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Dental Assisting program (preferred).
  • X-ray certification required; orthodontic assisting certification a plus
  • CPR/BLS certification.
  • 1+ year of experience in orthodontics or general dentistry preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
  • Knowledge of infection control protocols and ability to maintain a clean and sterile environment
  • Familiarity with dental receptionist duties, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and handling patient inquiries
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to patient confidentiality
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and basic anatomy knowledge
  • Experience with electronic health records systems (such as Epic, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft)
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
